Make a difference in your community

Smiling mother, father, daughter sit on couch holding house roof over the family.

Civil legal rights involve basic human needs and much more. They are the foundation for improved safety, education, health, and economic opportunity. Where people have an equal chance at justice, communities flourish.

Yet access to justice is out of reach for 92% of eligible West Virginians. That’s where you come in.

Your gift can change lives—right here at home. From veterans and families to seniors and children, your support brings justice within reach for those who need it most.

Join in supporting access to justice for all West Virginians

Your donation helps LAWV provide critical legal help to people like:

Father in military fatigues carries son on back, smiling
  • Jamie, a military veteran who was worried about her son’s biological father trying to file for custody after paying no support and being out of the picture for years. Her LAWV attorney helped her current husband adopt her son, providing Jamie with a sense of certainty in their family unit and her child with a legal relationship with the only father he has ever known.
  • Julia, a mother in a small town with limited housing, who after encountering substandard housing and increased rental fees faced eviction. Her LAWV attorney worked out a settlement with her landlord, enabling Julia to obtain safe housing for herself and her children.
older woman sits on a couch smiling between two younger boys with her arms around them.
  • Linda, a grandmother caring for her two grandsons while her daughter is treated for substance use disorder. Linda found support at one of LAWV’s free walk-in Lawyer in the School clinics, and the attorney she worked with provided Linda with financial and behavioral health resources to give her grandsons a stable life at home and in school.
